🐾 RONA REPORTS | EPISODE 1

I ARRIVED WITH NO RESERVATION—THEN TOOK OVER THE ENTIRE PROPERTY!

On March 11, 2020, the world learned we were facing a pandemic.

That same day, I showed up at The Cabins at Copperhill.

I was a tiny, abandoned puppy with no reservation, no luggage, and absolutely no intention of leaving.

The humans decided I could stay, but there was one condition.

They named me CORONA. Seriously?! 🙄

Thankfully, they shortened it to Rona.

Six years later, I'm still here, supervising the property, managing the humans, and generally keeping this whole operation running.

They may own the place, but we all know who's really in charge. 🐾

And now I've got my very own Sunday morning column!

🍂 The Great Oak Leaf Battle of 2026 🍁

There are two sides to fall in the mountains.

The side where you sit back, sip your coffee, admire the beautiful colors, and watch the leaves gently drift to the ground.

And then there's OUR side. 😂

When you have over 100 old oak trees scattered across your property, those beautiful falling leaves become your greatest nemesis.

You blow them. You rake them. You haul them away. You turn around… and there's another thousand lying right where you just cleaned.

And the oak trees? They aren't even close to finished. They're just getting warmed up.

It's a battle we fight every single fall, and one we have absolutely no chance of winning until the last stubborn oak leaf finally lets go.

But here's the funny thing. We wouldn't trade those old trees for anything. They've been standing on this mountain a lot longer than we have, and they'll probably still be dropping leaves long after we're gone.

So we'll keep chasing them, grumbling a little, laughing a little, and reminding ourselves that all this beauty comes with a price.

And apparently, that price is a leaf blower that never gets a day off. 😂🍂

People sometimes tell us "you are living the dream" and "how wonderful it must be to own a little mountain getaway".

And it is.

But I suspect they're picturing us sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, watching the sun rise over the mountains.

They're probably not picturing us wondering which water line is leaking, what broke overnight, or why something that worked perfectly yesterday has suddenly decided to quit.

There are beautiful moments here. And there are days that test every bit of patience we've got.

I wouldn't want to pretend otherwise.
