Wait… hosts can see the reviews YOU leave too? 👀

Yep.

When I’m considering a reservation, I’m not only able to see what previous hosts have said about a guest—I can also look at the reviews that guest has left for previous stays.

And to be very clear: one negative review would never be a red flag for me. Sometimes things go wrong, and guests should absolutely be able to leave an honest review about their experience.

What makes me look a little closer is a pattern.

The guest I talk about in this video had received great reviews from his previous hosts—but the reviews he left behind were consistently very negative.

As a small vacation rental business, that tells me we simply might not be a good fit for each other.

Interestingly, when I explained why I wasn’t comfortable accepting the reservation, he was completely understanding.

One of my most frustrating 4-star reviews… and it could have been solved with one message. 😅

A guest told us after her stay that the fire pit had no propane.

Except it did.

And even if the tank HAD been empty, we keep a spare ready to go.

I’d also checked in after arrival to make sure everything was going well—and never heard about a problem until the review.

As a vacation rental host, I don’t expect every stay to be perfect. Things happen. Equipment acts up. Propane runs out. We get it.

But please give your host the opportunity to help while you’re still there.

We can fix a lot of things.

We just can’t fix something we don’t know about. ❤️

Apparently the Stargazer foxes have expanded into the day shift. 🦊☀️😂

We’re used to catching our wild neighbors wandering around the properties after dark, but getting to see them out and about during the daytime is an extra special treat.

One of our favorite parts of life near Sedona and in Northern Arizona is sharing the landscape with the wildlife that calls it home.

At this point, they’re basically part of the Stargazer welcoming committee. ❤️

Of course I reached out because I assumed something that large had to be important.

One of the coolest ways to experience Sedona is to get off the pavement. 🌵🚙

Broken Arrow Trail is one of Sedona’s most iconic off-road routes, with dramatic red rock scenery, steep sections and views you simply don’t get from the road.

Most visitors experience this area on a guided Pink Jeep tour, but if you want to explore in your own vehicle, our friends at Arabella Off-Road rent Jeeps and Broncos that are perfect for a Sedona adventure.

We love getting out here ourselves, and this is one of those experiences that makes you appreciate just how much of Sedona exists beyond the main roads.
