🏖️ CORPUS CHRISTI BEACH PARKING PERMITS ARE GOING UP

That includes the city of Port Aransas

The City of Corpus Christi has approved an increase in the annual beach parking permit from $12 to $20, starting January 1, 2027.

The increase still needs state approval before taking effect.

Now, before everybody starts throwing their beach chairs into the dunes over an extra $8 a year, take a deep breath and put the flip-flop back down.

There are still areas where you can park on the beach for free, including:

• South of Beach Access Road #2 toward Fish Pass
• South of Bob Hall Pier
• You will most likely need four wheel drive in these areas on most days.

The city currently spends more maintaining the beaches than it collects from permit sales. That money helps pay for beach cleaning, lifeguards, maintenance and other improvements.

That extra $8 works out to about 67 cents a month. Most of us spill more than that between the truck seats while trying to grab a French fry at a red light.

Nobody likes paying more, but if it helps keep the beaches clean, the trash picked up and lifeguards watching the water, it is probably worth it.

Besides, one rescue from a rip current costs a whole lot more than eight bucks and a dramatic Facebook comment. 😂
