Jesse Brison, who operates the White River Nation guide service out of the Cotter area, took in some late-night/early-morning fishing on July 30 around the Shipp’s Landing area of the White River, upriver from the confluence of the White and Norfork rivers, and landed this monster rainbow trout. The fish was 32 inches long and weighed 17 pounds, 7 ounces, which was just shy of the state rainbow record of 19 pounds, 1 ounce. The state record has held up since 1981 (Jim Miller of Memphis caught the record rainbow on the White River).
