Summer weekends get all the attention, but there's something special about a midweek stay on Whidbey. โ˜€๏ธ

The ferry lines are shorter, the island is just a touch quieter, and you can still settle into everything that makes summer here so good. Mornings spent wandering Coupeville's waterfront, afternoons by the water, lunch and cocktails on the deck, and long summer evenings exploring back roads, beaches, and hidden corners of the island.

All the best parts of summer are still here. Just a little quieter.

Island summer can officially begin because lunch on the deck is back tomorrow. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ ๐Ÿน

Weโ€™ve rolled out a fresh lunch menu alongside a lineup of summer cocktails made for slow afternoons by the cove.

Menu spotlight: One Willow Farm Scotch Eggs with heritage chicken eggs wrapped in Italian sausage, fennel, CW rhubarb, young arugula, and mustard seed.

The eggs come from nearby One Willow Farm here on Whidbey Island, a small local farm known for thoughtful growing practices and deep care for the land, animals, and seasonal rhythms of the island.

Some of the trees are taller now, but the lodge still looks pretty much exactly how you hope it will when you pull in.

Lunch out on the deck isn't too far off on the horizon. โ˜€๏ธ

Deck dining is back on June 12th for the season, Friday through Sunday, 11am-2pm. A few tables in the sun, Penn Cove just below, and plates arrive still carrying the salt air with them.

If you see Penn Cove mussels on the menu, order them. ๐ŸŒŠ

Penn Cove was home to one of the first commercial mussel farms in the country, and for decades, the floating rafts in the water have been as much a part of Whidbey as the ferry boats and driftwood beaches. Around here, mussel harvesting isnโ€™t just industry, itโ€™s island culture.

Still pulled straight from these cold waters, just down the cove from Captain Whidbey.
