Camp Paivika

Camp Paivika offers children, teens and adults with disabilities a traditional camp experience.

Camp Paivika in Southern California is one of the first fully accessible camps in the United States. AbilityFirst’s Camp Paivika in the San Bernardino National Forest, just outside Los Angeles and near Big Bear, offers summer and winter overnight camp programs for kids and adults with mild to severe developmental and physical disabilities, such as autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and ep

ilepsy. Programs and activities include horseback riding, adaptive sports, swimming, cookouts and campfires, arts and crafts, and nature hikes, as well as fine arts, all in a safe and nurturing environment.

Join us for the 14th Annual Blue Jay Quilt Walk & Auction on Saturday, September 20, 2025 in Blue Jay Village. Stroll through town and enjoy beautiful quilts on display, live entertainment from Mountain Fifes & Drums, and special showcases like vintage sewing machine demos, quilt challenges, a library book sale, and more!

📍 Main gathering place: San Bernardino County Library – Lake Arrowhead Branch (27235 Highway 189, Blue Jay, CA 92317).

🕙 Quilt viewing: 10:00am–1:00pm
🔨 Auction begins: 1:00pm

💙 Proceeds from the auction will benefit Camp Paivika, an AbilityFirst program that provides life-changing experiences for individuals with disabilities. Willow Woods Quilt Guild has proudly supported Camp Paivika for over 30 years!

Born on January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King Jr (MLK Jr.) became a Baptist minister and social advocate for the use of nonviolent means to end racial segregation. He first became prominent in 1955 during a bus boycott by African Americans in Montgomery, Alabama.

The most influential of African American civil rights leaders during the 1960s, MLK Jr. was instrumental in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which outlawed discrimination in public accommodations, facilities, and employment, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. MLK Jr. was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1964. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968. (Britannica.com)
