We are a boutique independently owned historic hotel and former hospital built in 1898 located in the Cripple Creek & Victor historic district.

We also house The Boiler Room Tavern and The Grand Peak Spa. See our website for more information. The hotel began as the St. Nicholas Hospital. Today, The Boiler Room Tavern and The Grand Peak Spa reside in her walls.

Oh boy the decorating has begun, few new items for this year! If you want to tour the hotel and enjoy the spirit of the spooky season we expect most items to be up this week or two! Don’t forget, the annual Halloween party will be the 30th… more to come.

Fall Fest has passed and with that many local attractions are transitioning to winter hours/schedules… please make sure to check their schedule if you have a particular site you plan on visiting between now and next May! Memorial Day weekend is the big kickoff for us after the quieter Fall/Winter. Still plenty to see and do here between now and Memorial Day like the Butte Theater, holiday happenings, Ice Fest, Rita, the Jail Museum, Heritage Center and more!

Did you make it up for Fall Fest? There are a few more hours left! With such a dry Spring/Summer the leaves are already starting to fall… if you’re planning to catch the leaves turning make your plans now. We were very lucky to have a beautiful weekend for Fall Fest, but the weather is definitely turning! Leading up to this weekend we had lots of cold, rain, and snow almost made it down to Cripple Creek!

It’s the first day of fall and the autumnal equinox! If you are planning on leaf peeping in this area make your plans quick, we expect the leaves to finish turning soon and the leaves to fall quickly (side effects of such a dry spring/summer). Additionally, don’t forget we have deer, elk, bighorn, cows and yaks that you will find along the way to the Gold Camp area and in town proper so keep your eyes peeled for the neighbors! Plus take advantage of the turn outs and let others pass.

We are in that sweet spot where summer is almost over and fall has not fully kicked in. Temps are in the low 70s during the day, in the 40s at night, with the occasional afternoon shower… enjoying the double rainbow over the mine and of course it’s Colorado so the sun is out and the rain is coming down. If you haven’t made plans for this weekend, Cruise Above the Clouds is coming through and the following weekend we have Mt Pisgah Speaks, get your tickets soon as some of the times have already sold out! Plus start making your leaf peeping plans, we are starting to see the first signs of the leaves turning!

So many things are coming this next month or two… we’re getting ready to send out our Fall Newsletter tomorrow, double checking and making sure we added as many local events as possible! Don’t forget fall colors will be here soon, and we will have the map link in our newsletter so that you can try and make some plans for when you come up here and see our gorgeous colors (suggest weekdays, the weekend traffic will be a lot).

View from the hotel this evening… And a little update on weather coming into the new week. If you feel like you need to escape the heat come on up to the mountains. It’s probably at least 20° cooler, and certainly much cooler at night!
