Fall, the most beautiful time of the year!!

Hello Cuyunaverse!!

The weekend is here!! We are getting rain today and tonight and then it is looking amazing for the next 10 days!! Looks like a Hero Dirt Weekend!!

Small Game and Archery seasons are open. This hunting can take place in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area and in Cruser's Kettle. ALL TRAILS are OPEN during this time.

Riders are encouraged to wear orange or pink.

The Dragline North/Portsmouth Campground project is ongoing and is signed.

Always check the weather before your ride:
Weather Channel https://weather.com/.../7513d15d75278b42c53344a25ac2781a9...

Mahnomen North Unit - Open
Sagamore Unit - Open
Mahnomen South Unit - Open
Portsmouth Unit - Open. There is construction with some alternate routes. Read the signs.
Yawkey Unit - Open
Cruser's Kettle - Open

Our protocol is to wait at least 2 HOURS after rain stops OR when the streets in Crosby/Ironton are showing dry spots. Cruser's Kettle needs 24 hours to dry out.

All trails in the CCSRA and Cruser's Kettle are one-way, directional trails. Bikes, walkers, and runners all go in the same direction as the trail designation.

Groups larger than 6 should think about breaking up into smaller groups so other riders can pass safely.

If you are unfamiliar with the trails, here's the link to the current map. It's a great idea to familiarize yourself and everyone you ride with on what trails you are riding. We want everyone to be safe, and in the event of an emergency, to know where your are,

Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area mountain bike trails will open on Friday, May 6th at 12:00 PM!!

Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area trails will open on Friday, May 6th at 12:00 PM!! Our awesome volunteer group stepped up and walked all the trails looking for trees down, branches, leaves, and trail damage. The trails are still drying out and will be ready on Friday at noon.

Please don't try and ride the trails any sooner. There were places that had snow on them this weekend and any early riding will lead to damage. The people in the picture below are all VOLUNTEERS and they go above and beyond to keep the trails in the best shape!

Sagamore trails are ALL CLOSED for construction. With any luck, they will reopen in mid-June.

We do have some dirt sloughing on Bobsled and Sinter. We will be working on those trails and hopefully have them ready. If you see trail tape up or a snow fence pulled across a trail, it is still CLOSED. Don't go around the tape or fence.

We are assessing Cruser's Kettle today(Wednesday) and will post its status ASAP. It is made of different material than the CCSRA trails and tends to take a bit longer to dry out.

Please check with our generous trail maintenance partners for places to stay, eat, or biking needs. We really appreciate working with them to give you the best trails!!

Winter has only begun, Come Get Some!

In Cuyuna, discarded glacial till and low-grade ore were once piled up by the truckload. These mining byproducts—commonly referred to as overburden—now make up Miner’s Mountain. You can drive, snowshoe, or ride to the top for breathtaking views of the Promised Land. Here, you can see Huntington-Feigh Mine Lake, Pennington Mine Lake, Portsmouth Mine Lake, Blackhoof Natural Lake, as well as clear views of the North Mahnomen Unit and the City of Trommald’s water tower.
