HOMECOMING!

This Saturday, the 1877 ELISSA returns to historic Galveston Island. Join Galveston Historical Foundation as we celebrate the Official Tall Ship of Texas' Galveston 250 voyage.

* ELISSA will make her arrival near 9 a.m. by the Pleasure Pier. From there, she will proceed east, making her way into Galveston Harbor. For her Seawall arrival, she will be sailing with as many sails as possible before furling them for her harbor arrival.

* From 11-1, the public is invited to join at Pier 21 for a welcome-home Watch Party. Bring your welcome-home banners and signs, and enjoy kids' activities, craft beer tastings with Saint Arnold Brewing Company, official merchandise sales, and more. We expect the ship to pass this location near 12:30.

That evening from 5-7, there is a special homecoming reception at the Galveston Historic Seaport : Home of the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa. Tickets are $25 per person and allow entry and access on the ship for tours, live music, tattoos, special guests' remarks, and more!

GALVESTON FERRY:

Due to dredging operations, ferry service on Monday, July 20 will temporarily be halted between the hours of 9am and 11am. Once dredging operations are completed, ferry service will resume. A notification will be sent out via social media.

We recommend planning accordingly and ! We do apologize in advance for any inconveniences, but this important work is necessary to keep the ferry operating efficiently and safely.

Galveston's own 1877 Tall Ship Elissa was the oldest ship participating in the Sail4th 250 parade in New York Harbor for the 250th Anniversary on July 4, 2026. HUZZAH!

This past weekend, one of our free beach wheelchairs headed out to help someone enjoy the beach a little more easily. 💙

We talk a lot about golf carts around here, but offering these beach wheelchairs at no charge is one of the things we’re most proud of.

Everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the sand, the waves, and everything our beautiful beaches have to offer. If we can help make that happen, we’re happy to do it.
