Sun, saltwater, and a little friendly competition—just another unforgettable day at the Crystal River Waterfront Lodge! 🌴🐟

Capt. Ashlie Payeras Howell and Capt. Julie Meconnahey hit the water aboard the G3 tunnel hull Bar Hopper and made the most of a picture-perfect day in Crystal River. Ashlie landed a beautiful sheepshead and definitely claimed bragging rights for the day, while Julie battled a drag-screaming power plant monster sail cat that terrified her light tackle! 😱

Crystal River Waterfront Lodge - Vacation Rental Crystal River Waterfront Lodge was proud to sponsor an upcoming episode of Reel Talk on WFLA channel 8 with Meteorologist Amanda Holly, and what a day it turned out to be! 🎣🌴

We teamed up with Captain Andrew of Tailwalker Fishing Charters for an action-packed adventure on the water. Despite an early start in the dark with some wind and choppy conditions, we pushed through and got set up for a great day of fishing. By midday, the weather laid down and the bite turned on!

Amanda got hooked up on redfish early, pulling fish after fish out of the mangroves and landing two beautiful upper-slot reds for dinner. After a few attempts at snook, the incoming tide finally triggered the bite—boom, fish on! Her snook made for an exciting catch-and-release and a great segment for the show.

With drone footage capturing dolphins feeding nearby and epic overhead shots of the redfish action, this trip had it all. We wrapped up the day drifting the flats for trout, landing several keepers using shrimp on bright green jigs by Monster Jigs. Captain Andrew sent Amanda home with fresh redfish and trout fillets to top off the experience.
