Peak fall color season is truly a tale of two peninsulas this year. With near average rainfall in the Upper Peninsula, and some colder nights, peak colors primarily before mid-October seem to be on track. Continuous warmth, however, may push some locations in the red to the October 10th-20th timeline for peak. Most locations as it stands across the Lower Peninsula won't see peak until beyond mid-month... if we even get a peak season. Here at Michigan Storm Chasers, we have staff staged all across southern and central Michigan reporting the same thing. Leaves are changing from green, to a dull yellow, then falling within the span of days due to warmth and drought. If you're looking for a fall color season, your best bet is to travel north of US-10 where peak color is, in a loose sense, more on track then our southern Michigan counterparts.

This map will undergo forecast changes in the days to come as the weather plays a role in everything. Continuous warmer weather appears likely through at least October 10th as it stands today, September 29th, 2025. Follow Michigan Storm Chasers for those changes as they come in.
