The Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup is happening September 25, and watching the herd thunder across the prairie is one of those South Dakota experiences you have to see at least once.

Evening Program time Update- Starting Monday, August 10th
As summer days get shorter, the sun is setting earlier which means we’re adjusting the start time of Mount Rushmore’s Evening Lighting Ceremony.
Beginning Monday, August 10, the Evening Program will start at 8:00 p.m. instead of 9:00 p.m.
This helps ensure the program aligns with sunset so you can enjoy the full lighting experience at just the right moment.
📅 New Start Time:
🕗 8:00 p.m. nightly beginning August 10 - September 30th.
We look forward to sharing this special experience with you. See you under the evening sky at the Memorial!

I guess I should have paid attention in geometry class...interesting post on Mt. Rushmore.

Mount Rushmore was designed with extraordinary attention to scale, proportion, and detail.

Each presidential face is about 60 feet tall. The eyes measure roughly 11 feet across, and the noses are about 20 feet long. Abraham Lincoln’s face even includes a carved detail: his mole measuring about 1 foot by 1 foot, though it isn’t visible from below. Theodore Roosevelt’s mustache spans about 18 feet and his face is set about 80 feet behind the others, adding depth to the composition.
