The Bear was for sale and we knew it was the perfect spot for us. Come see the amazing views, meet the friendliest people and relax on the front porch of the 1904 farmhouse right in front of the Appalachian Trail. Spend a weekend or a week exploring the trails - Appalachian Trail, Virginia Creeper Trail, MABDR, and the TAT, just to name a few.

Friday we have Lua Flora with their full band!

Saturday we have Nan Macmillan with local artist Fallyn Grace Presley opening for Nan.

Both nights shows start at 7:30pm with doors opening at 7pm.

The artist will bring different vibes both nights! It’s a weekend of music in Damascus that you will not want to miss.

Join us on August 21st at 7:30pm at The Cardinal Music Hall for an unforgettable night with Asheville, NC-based Lua Flora. Led by songwriter Evan Button, Lua Flora blends Americana, indie folk, and pop with the rhythmic influence of Caribbean and West African traditions, creating a sound that feels both personal and expansive.

From intimate backyard sets to national stages, the band has built a reputation for immersive live performances that pull audiences in and hold them there. Having shared stages with artists like Satsang and Franc Moody and performed at festivals including FloydFest and Rooster Walk, Lua Flora continues to emerge as a standout voice in modern folk music.

TLDR: Things got much worse but we were able to get the hooks out.
This morning we found Mama and another mama duck stuck together in multiple places - beak pinned together, feet to wings, head to wing. It was gruesome; a heap at the bottom of our stairs where we feed everybody. Easy to contain them at that point. A sheet to wrap each as she was extricated. Snips to cut all the hooks. I hope they knew even in that moment we were trying to help. Both ducks flew off after “surgery.”
Please keep track of your fishing gear, line and hooks kill ducks!

Nosh. Nibble. Taste…of Damascus 🧑‍🍳 Join ASD on Saturday, August 15th, from 1 to 4:30 pm for a fun day in the Damascus Town Park while you enjoy ‘taste’ portions from 5 of your favorite Damascus restaurants 😋

When you buy tickets, you’re supporting local chefs, their establishments, and of course, local farmers! Wash it all down with adult beverages for purchase from The Damascus Brewery and Appalachian Heritage Distillery & Brewery 🍺 Plus, ticket purchasers also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dish!

Our friends at The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail will be there too, with great performances by local musicians, Raistlin Brabson & Margo MacSweeney, and Sandy Shortridge 🎶
