❤️➡️💙 A little refresh at Sunshine View!

Sometimes you don’t need to change everything to give a room a completely different feel.

We decided it was time to say goodbye to the red accents in our family room and introduce a much calmer palette of navy, soft blue, grey and neutrals.

We’ve changed the rug, cushions and artwork and added a few new accessories, while keeping our existing sofas, tables and flooring. The blues work so well with the grey furniture and, best of all, seem to bring the Florida sky and the view out towards the conservation area right into the room. 💙🌴

So… we couldn’t just leave the bathrooms alone! 😂

After giving the loft lounge a makeover, we decided the yellow bathroom was next on the list. Out went the yellow, and in came a much softer, calmer spa-inspired look.

A fresh coat of colour, a few new touches and suddenly it feels like a completely different room. Light, bright and much more relaxing — exactly the sort of feeling we want at Sunshine View.

We’re calling this one another little transformation rather than a major renovation… although somehow those “little updates” always seem to turn into a project for Mike especially!😂

Another job ticked off and Sunshine View is looking better than ever and ready for our guests.

So… Mike will remember me saying there weren’t really any big jobs to do at Sunshine View this summer and we were going to have time to relax. 😂

Then I had the bright idea of asking ChatGPT for a few ideas for the loft lounge…

Well, that escalated quickly! 🤣

We’ve given the loft lounge a complete little refresh, keeping the black leather sofas but softening everything around them with a new neutral colour scheme of taupe, cream and warm beige.

We’ve added new cushions, soft neutral curtains, new artwork and some new accessories, along with a few natural textures and warmer touches to bring everything together.

The aim was to make it feel less like a spare room and more like a stylish, comfortable holiday space — and we’re really pleased with how it’s turned out.

Of course, once we’d finished the loft lounge, I thought… “Why not ask ChatGPT what we could do with the family room?” 😂

Photo just received from our pool company… and what timing! ☀️🏊‍♀️
As England continues to swelter through this heatwave, this picture has us dreaming of being back in Florida. Just look at that beautiful pool – shimmering crystal-clear water sparkling in the sunshine, with the sun loungers ready for a day of pure relaxation.
While we’re here trying to stay cool with fans, cold drinks and any patch of shade we can find, our Florida pool is looking absolutely irresistible. One refreshing dip in that gorgeous blue water would go down a treat right now!
For the moment, we’ll have to settle for admiring the photo and counting down the days until we are poolside under the Florida sun. It certainly gives us something to look forward to! 🌴💙😎
Who’s with us and wishing they could jump straight into that pool today? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

That’s a wrap for Winter 2026 ❄️☀️ — saying our final goodbyes to Sunshine View.

What a visit it’s been… from the coldest weather in over 100 years to those stunning clear blue skies and beautifully warm days we love so much.

We’ve loved welcoming Stitch to Sunshine View and getting stuck into all the behind-the-scenes jobs — decorating, maintenance, painting — everything that helps make our guests’ stays extra special.

There’s been plenty of exploring too… from Savannah, Hilton Head, Charleston and St Augustine, to unforgettable moments spotting so many manatees at Crystal River and an amazing day at Kennedy Space Centre 🚀

Wishing all of our Spring guests a truly wonderful stay… until next time, Sunshine View 🌴

Out resident Sandhill Cranes have two chicks—also called “colts”—again this year! It’s been so fascinating watching them in the retention area today, running around and exploring their new world.

Did you know?

• Sandhill Cranes are one of the oldest bird species in the world. Fossils dating back 2.5 million years have been found right here in Florida, meaning they lived alongside mammoths and saber-toothed cats.
• They mate for life—once they find their partner, they usually stay together forever.
• Their wingspan can reach up to 7 feet!
• Florida Sandhill Crane colts can leave the nest and even swim within 8–24 hours of hatching.
• They are listed as a Florida state-designated threatened species due to habitat loss and vehicle strikes.

It’s also important to remember: it is against the law to intentionally feed, harm, or harass these beautiful birds.

We’re lucky to have them here—please enjoy them from a distance and help keep them safe 💛

It’s Wednesday… so that means Wing Wednesday at Miller’s Ale House!

Nothing beats a midweek treat, and this is one of our favorite traditions:

🍗 Dozen wings for just $12 – perfect for sharing (or not!).
🥨 Bavarian warm pretzel served with rich b**r cheese and mustard dip.
🍔 Cue Bacon Cheeseburger – juicy beef, melty white American cheese, peppered bacon, crispy tanglers, and bold BBQ sauce packed into every bite.
🍺 An ice-cold b**r to wash it all down and make the night even better.

We always try to grab a seat out on the patio—the vibe is great with music playing, sports on the TVs, and that relaxed atmosphere of people chatting and catching up with friends. It’s the perfect way to break up the week and enjoy good food, cold drinks, and great company.

Hakuna Matata Moments at Disney’s Animal Kingdom 🦁✨

One of my absolute favorite things to do at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has to be Festival of the Lion King.

Located in the Harambe Theatre in the Africa section of the park, this vibrant show celebrates the music of The Lion King with incredible live singers, dancers, puppetry, acrobatics, and even fire dancing—all inside a large air-conditioned theater (which is always a bonus in Florida!).

The audience is split into four fun sections—Lion, Elephant, Giraffe, and Warthog—and everyone gets involved by making their animal sounds throughout the show. It’s even better when a member of your party is picked to help lead one of the sections—this has happened to us twice now, which makes it extra special and memorable!

Hearing classics like Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight performed live makes it such a magical experience every time I visit Walt Disney World Resort.

If you’re heading to Animal Kingdom, this show is an absolute must-see! 🦁✨

It’s strawberry time in Florida again! 🍓

Take a break from the theme parks and enjoy a true local experience—visit the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City. Enjoy live entertainment from fantastic groups and bands, family-friendly attractions, and of course… fresh strawberries everywhere!

Or just go strawberry picking and enjoy fantastic, large, sweet strawberries straight from the field.

Don’t forget to treat yourself to the famous strawberry shortcake—it’s a must-try this season!
