Phil's Villa The Villa is big enough for two large families. The villa has 4 bedrooms; 2 double each with en-suite facilities and 2 twin rooms with a shared bathroom.

NEW SETTEES for the villa
The two settees were dated and worn and needed replacing so that’s what we have done. Not sure when we will be back but left the villa looking like a show home. Viki has perfected the art of towel folding for the finishing touches.

OLD TOWN FLORIDA
Never been here before so I thought we would pay a visit. It’s an amusement park with shops n restaurants set in old America. Has weekly car shows, live music and is free to get in. You can pay for individual rides and shows or get a day pass. Fun for all ages. Lots of young children’s rides but a few for thrill seekers. Worth a visit. 15/20 min drive from the villa

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from Phil and Viki in Orlando
We have been giving the villa a deep ‘early’ spring clean this week and the outside has just been repainted along with the pool area. All looks new and fresh and even the trees have had a trim.
Everywhere is closed today so we will have a chill out day in the pool. 9.15am and the temperature has hit 19 degrees. Should be 24 by early afternoon.

FIRST TIME BACK AT THE VILLA FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS.
We flew in from Gatwick yesterday. Was expecting it to be difficult but the whole process was the quickest its ever been. Admittedly it wasnt as busy as normal and even the plane was probably only two thirds full. We needed to get a Fit to Fly Antigen test (we got that 2 days before in Nottingham - took five minutes - think it was around £40). We needed to book a Lateral flow test for two days after our return - you need a certificate number to add to your paperwork. We obviously had to prove we had been double vaccinated. But that was it. You need to wear a mask in the airport and on the plane but that was it. The US is back open!

UNIVERSAL reopens.
Universal opened last week with all guests having to wear face masks and observe social distancing. According to reports it was long lines but quick waits. Disney is opening Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on the 11th July and Hollywood Studios and Epcot on the 15th July. Orlando is slowly coming out of lockdown and some airlines will start to fly to Orlando in July, though whether UK passengers will be able to go on them is doubtful at the moment. But things may change, who knows. Two months ago they were thinking that Disney and Universal would be shut all year.
I have managed to move a lot of bookings to next year, but that means next year is starting to fill up even with people unsure of the safety of travelling. The one good thing about a villa holiday is that you and your family aren't having to mix with hotel guests and the villa has enough to keep everyone safely entertained.

TRAVEL TIP - UBER?
We normally hire a car when we are in Florida- but this time we thought we would try Uber.
It’s great to have the flexibility of hiring a car - but it can be a pain waiting in line to pick up the car from the airport. Plus after a long flight you may not feel like driving on the wrong side of the road. Thank goodness for Vikis screams to remind me. On top of that you have petrol, insurance, toll roads, international driving license to consider.
Most of the time we had an Uber car with us within 5/10 minutes. Prices do vary on time of day and location but average for:
Airport to villa $40
Villa to Publix (nearest supermarket) $8
Villa to Championsgate $11
Villa to Walmart $14
Disney world $18 to get there - coming back was $35. NB if you drive there yourself you have a $25 parking charge.
So after a week - the cost of Uber and hiring ran neck and neck. Would I use Uber again? If I wasn’t planning on doing a lot of long drives yes I would. Anyone else have any thoughts or advice?

YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD SPIDER-MAN
I think this is my favourite bedding so far. So much so that we bought a little ‘chair’ to go with it. Admittedly it looked bigger in the photo on the web - but I’m sure our youngest guests will love it. We have added new Mickey and Minnie Mouse bedding sets as well as new adult bedding, pillows and sheets. Each bedroom has spare bedding in the wardrobes and even more bedding can be found in the closet on the landing.
