Our guests came to Canaan Valley for the changing leaves, but tonight they got an extra show! 🤯

The sunset turned about as bright, bold, and colorful as you could possibly imagine, lighting up the entire valley.

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better… a DOUBLE RAINBOW showed up, stretching what looked like five miles high into the sky! 🌈🌈

This is exactly why we love fall in the mountains. You never know what kind of show Mother Nature has waiting for you.

Mystical fog this morning fills the valley floor in the highest and largest mountain valley on the east coast. Canaan Valley, West Virginia is a special place in all seasons but the morning light here cannot be beat on a cool fall morning when the temps dip into the 30s after a 70 degree day before.

Some parts of the valley saw temps as low as 26 degrees last night.

At one point several decades ago, politicians almost flooded the entire valley to make a lake. The sea of fog in the 3rd picture gives you an idea of what that lake may have looked like. Thankfully this did not happen as we would not have this absolutely breathtaking area to enjoy.
