No better way to spend a 70 degree sunny day than on the Blackwater River Trail in Canaan Valley State Park taking a morning family hike. Less than a mile long but full of views and sites this is a hike for all ages!

Today was a great day to see the clouds reflecting of the river.

🌄 Fall is in the Air at Valley View! 🍂

Waking up to 50° this morning with a cool, crisp mountain fog settling into the valley overnight. These foggy mornings make for some incredible photos of the resort!

And now… fall is officially on our radar. 🍁

Based on what we’re seeing so far, we’re predicting the 2026 fall leaf season to run roughly September 23 – October 14, with peak color likely during the first week of October.

Last year, we saw peak color around September 20, while three years ago it didn’t peak until around October 15–17. The difference? Weather! We haven’t had the August frost that helped trigger an earlier change during the past two seasons.

Our best prediction right now:

🍂 September 23: Fall color begins to really show
🍁 September 26: Leaf Peepers Festival — should line up nicely with the beginning of the show!
🍁 First week of October: PEAK COLOR
🍂 October 14: Season begins winding down

Of course, an early September frost could move everything up a little, but for now, Mother Nature appears to be setting us up for a beautiful fall!

Today was one of those perfect lighting days at Valley View Cabin Resort—so naturally, we took advantage of it to capture some updated marketing photos, videos, and a little behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening around the resort! 📸🎥

We like to say we’re the “Center of Adventure” for a reason.

Valley View is surrounded on 3½ sides by public lands, including the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Monongahela National Forest, and Dolly Sods Wilderness. That puts hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, dozens of overlooks, waterfalls, scenic drives, fishing spots and outdoor adventures right outside your door.

Seneca Rock is only 25 minutes from Valley View Cabin Resort and the #1 place I tell guests to go when they are traveling here for an adventure. It is one of the Top 5 geological wonders in our beautiful state.

Crowned in fire, cloaked in mist. Blessed 2 straight days by the morning magic of Seneca Rocks. 🌅✨ This photo reminds me of a medieval castle punching through the mist, just before a dragon attack! What does this scene remind you of? I get so amazed that I have been allowed to see such scenes with my eyes. These scenes, much like a movie scene leave a vivid impression in my soul! 🚁🫈🤘🏼

Beautiful sunrise over the river in Blackwater Falls State Park this morning. Mystic morning fog highlighted by the sun coming through the low level clouds shines bright on the river below.

Blackwater Falls State Park is only 15 minutes from Valley View Cabin Resort - Canaan Valley. Go for the falls stay for the overlooks. Pendleton Point and Lindsey Point are the two popular overlooks that (to me) is more spectacular than the falls themselves.

We LOVE each and every one of our guest reviews at VVCR. But sometimes you get one that makes you smile from your pinky toe to the tips of your ears (and everwhere in between). Thank you Pam for the kind words.

Funny thing is how many people tell me they had the best night of sleep in years sleeping in our luxury bed and linens. We have probably sold over fifty Dreamcloud mattresses for the company since being open. I have sent the link to dozens and dozens of our guests who have asked. Dreamcloud Premier Hybrid...if you are wondering what mattress we are using here! It really is one of the best made.

"I will probably run out of space writing how amazing this stay was. We had no idea how beautiful the area would be.

We were pleasantly surprised with the coffee shop half a mile up the road with delicious sandwiches - we walked or biked there every morning!

The cabins are well equipped and certainly earn their "Luxury" designation. They didn't skimp on anything - the linens, furniture, and overall quality of the build are all exceptional. I haven't slept that well in ages - so much so that I researched the exact pillows and mattress and purchased them for my own home before leaving!!!!!

The kitchen is well equipped with mostly any appliance you may need to cook or bake. They only provide salt and pepper so make sure you bring your own spices and oils if you plan on cooking!

There is a luxury spa in the same parking lot which I also took advantage of. We will absolutely be back and can't recommend this place highly enough! Book it! :)"
