On this special day, we honor and celebrate all mothers, grandmothers, wives, daughters, and women whose love, strength, and sacrifices serve as the foundation of our families and communities.

A mother’s guidance teaches us compassion, integrity, faith, and perseverance, values that closely reflect the principles we cherish in Freemasonry. Their unwavering support, gentle wisdom, and endless devotion shape generations and inspire us to become better men, husbands, fathers, and citizens.

To all mothers, thank you for the countless sacrifices you make, the encouragement you provide, and the love you so freely give. Your impact upon our lives can never truly be measured.

A special Happy Mother’s Day to the First Lady of Texas Masons, Dr. Afton Rumsey, whose kindness, strength, and steadfast support are a true blessing to our Masonic family. Her grace and dedication continue to positively impact so many throughout this Grand Jurisdiction.

There was barely an empty seat at the Decatur Masonic Lodge #447 this past Tuesday as the community gathered for our 25th Annual Scholarship Awards cermony.

This year, the Lodge proudly awarded seven college scholarships and three trade scholarships to outstanding students from Decatur High School, Decatur, TX and Victory Christian Academy continuing a long-standing commitment to supporting local education.

In addition to the scholarships, Shelby Hicks was presented with a check on behalf of WCCA - Meals On Wheels Wise County recognizing the importance of giving back to those in need.

Jessica Childers was honored with the Community Builder Award for her exceptional service and dedication to the people of Decatur and Wise County.

Worshipful Master J.W. Irick shared a brief and insightful history of the Masonic role in Texas education, highlighting the organization’s enduring impact on learning and community development.

Senior Warden Rod Zuniga served as emcee for the evening, presenting awards to the students and their families. Each recipient was supported by heartfelt words from friends, family, and educators, and took a moment to express gratitude while sharing their future plans.

The Decatur Masonic Lodge meets every second Thursday of the month, and the community is encouraged to stay tuned for our upcoming milestone celebration—the Lodge’s 150th Anniversary on September 19.
