Next time you visit Decorah, be sure to check it out! With scenic views, walking trails, picnic areas, and a playground, it’s a great place to spend an afternoon before heading back to Pulpit Rock Campground.

Winneshiek County Emergency Management recommends these free weather apps to help you stay informed and receive important weather alerts. A great resource to have during your stay and beyond!

Have you registered for Alert Iowa? It's a free emergency communications tool. If you have not and would like to, message me for the link!!

But you know what's even better? Partner Alert Iowa with the Smart 911 app!! Both are free. Both are tools which could help you stay safe, and be better prepared. The Smart 911 app is free for both Apple and Android devices.

Think of Alert Iowa as "Winneshiek County" only. But...when you add the Smart 911 app, that app travels with you all across the US! An example is if you're driving to Missouri to visit family and you drive through an area in southern Iowa under a severe thunderstorm warning, you will receive the emergency alert notification. Pretty cool and very useful.

Do we have any control over Mother Nature…NO!!

PLEASE enjoy all of your Holiday pre-planned festivities from the safety of the shore. The river levels are rising fast making the rivers unpredictable.

Reminder…what might be considered fun for you, has the potential to cause work for the volunteers responding to assist you should something happen.

All local emergency responders highly recommend staying off the water this weekend.
