an SCA rant while I'm waiting for my next event. Over the years, I've come to the conclusion there are several kinds of Brewers in the SCA: The Kit Brewer- More likely someone new to the SCA in general. They've gone to the local brewstore and the store owner has talked them into either a beer or wine kit that takes less than 2 hrs to get it to the point where the yeast is pitched and they end up with a beverage that is either tasty or will take the rust off your 57 Buick's bumper....

When I was 15 my Dad showed me how to take a gallon of apple cider and remove a cup and replace it with a cup of sugar. Then we stuck a hose through the cap into a glass of water where it bubbled downstairs in the basement for the remainder of the winter. With that realization, I started creating alcohol and it wasn't just for the effects but the history and the ceremony and the uses along with how many different kinds of alcohol there were.
