To those who use short term rentals for stays throughout California, I’m hoping you’ll consider writing to your state Senator (if you live in California) and tell them to vote NO - on SB584 - a bill making its way through the state senate which would impose an unbelievable additional tax of 15% for any short term rental stay in California. Imagine the impact? We already pay local tax, Transient Occupancy Tax (10.5% in Monterey County), property tax as well as the fees charged by VRBO or other platforms. This bill is ONLY targeting Short term rental operators and the funds are designed to go into a pool for “workforce housing” - this is absurd. STR’s are 1% of the housing stock in California. Why would the burden be placed on this small amount of operators? Please - Californians who utilize STR’s - contact your representatives and let them know how damaging this bill would be. Thank you.

There’s something so comforting about being in a familiar and much loved place during the holidays. Our family moved a lot when our kids were growing up - but this special spot remained fixed as we visited The Coles. Now we gather here to maintain a sense of connection with the past while we create new memories. We share this home with guests throughout the year - but as Christmas comes upon us - we block that calendar and nestle in. Wishing all who follow a joyous holiday season and we hope to see you here in 2023 so you can create your own special memories.
