Most people planning a long work trip budget for everything except the hours they'll lose to a laundromat.

Because it’s not something you have to think about when you’re at home and can throw it in the washer and go do other things till it’s done. When you’re spending an hour and a half at the laundromat every weekend, it is unsustainable.

Most Capri units come with their own washer and dryer, so that time goes back into the actual reason you're there.

The guests I worry about most aren't the ones who call to complain.
They're the ones who say "It's fine."

The complainers tell me what's wrong, so I can fix it. "It's fine" usually means a nurse slept badly for three weeks and never mentioned it. Or an agent decided the broken lamp wasn't worth bothering anyone over.

People who carry heavy loads for a living get very good at not asking for anything.

If leadership had to live with the travel policy for a month, how fast would it change?

A room without a kitchen might seem reasonable when approving expenses. By the fourth week of eating takeout on the bed, it probably feels different.

Then there’s the preferred housing list nobody has touched since 2019. Someone approved it once, and everyone since has just kept using it even though those companies stopped updating their websites and SOPs years ago.

I’ve talked with a lot of HR and benefits folks, and most of you didn’t write those rules. Plenty of you don’t love them either. But you’re often the ones fielding the calls when the arrangements don’t work.

So I really want to know: who actually decides where your traveling people sleep?
