The 2025 sea turtle nesting season is officially ended early October! 💚
This year, we had a total of 19 loggerhead nests laid on our beaches and 9 loggerhead false crawls. A total of 1,988 eggs were laid and 1,247 of those eggs produced hatchlings. That gives our beaches a 62.7% hatch success for the season!
Although we would like to see higher hatchling numbers and a higher hatch success, if you have been following along, you'll know that we had multiple nests that contained mainly unfertilized eggs. Each season brings us something new and allows us to continue learning!
We want to thank everyone for helping us keep our beaches clean, flat, and dark! Thank you to those who contacted us when they saw a nesting sea turtle or disorienting hatchlings! We were able to help so many disoriented hatchlings make their way safely to the water because of you!! 👍
There are still beaches around us with turtle nests so please continue to keep our beaches clean, flat, and dark!
We can't wait to see what 2026 has in store for us 🐢🐢🐢
