We are delighted about our summer schedule on the patio, commencing with live music tonight featuring Crossroads. We invite you to savor our delectable Memphis Wrap, accompanied by homemade green chili mac and cheese, and baked beans, while enjoying the musical performance and breathtaking sunset view, followed by warmth by the fire pit. We look forward to your presence.

Your stay is just the beginning.

A couple days ago, we loaded up the truck, grabbed coffee, and spent the day exploring some of our favorite places in the mountains.

The goal wasn’t just to visit scenic spots. It was to experience the kind of day that’s possible when Dove Creek is your home base.

Cold rivers.
Open roads.
Fishing holes.
Aspen groves.
Mountain views and good company.

These photos capture some of the moments between the destinations; Conversations, quiet views, and the simple experiences that make a day trip memorable.

One of the things we love most about this corner of Colorado is that adventure doesn’t have to mean a long drive or complicated plans. Sometimes it’s just a day spent exploring what’s already nearby.

Most locals know there’s an incredible amount to see and do within a day’s-drive of Dove Creek. What many travelers don’t realize is that our little town makes the perfect home base for exploring the Four Corners region.

From national parks and mountain vistas to desert landscapes, fishing holes, and ancient history; There is a lot to be discovered within reach.

To showcase some of our favorite adventures, we are launching a new video series featuring day trips that start right here out of Dove Creek.

For our first adventure, we left the motel after fueling up with a coffee from Cow Horse Coffee and headed into the mountains.

Our route included the Dolores Overlook, a swim at Bradfield Bridge, fishing at Groundhog Reservoir, lunch on Black Mesa, a hike to Geyser Springs, and dinner in Dolores.

This adventure is one of our favorite day trips and a perfect example of what makes this area so special.

Now we want to hear from you!

What is your favorite day trip, hidden gem, or outdoor adventure that starts from Dove Creek?

Leave your recommendations in the comments.

And here’s a challenge for our guests: document your own Dove Creek adventure and share it with us or tag us on social media. We’ll reward our favorite submissions with a FREE night at the motel!

Check out the video and let us know what you think. We can’t wait to share more of the amazing places that make Dove Creek such a great destination.

🌟 A Special Thank You to Our Unsung Hero 🌟

We want to take a moment to recognize someone who is truly the backbone of our motel....Kim Mosher.

This July marks an incredible 15 years of Kim's dedication and hard work. She wears many hats and works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. If you've ever commented on how clean and comfortable our rooms are, you have Kim and her exceptional housekeeping skills to thank.

When we took over the motel, Kim's knowledge of the property and years of experience were invaluable as we learned the ins and outs of operating a roadside motel. Her commitment, work ethic, and attention to detail have helped make this place what it is today.

We don't say it nearly enough, but we are incredibly grateful for everything she does.

Thank you, Kim, for 15 years of dedication, loyalty, and hard work. We couldn't do it without you! ❤️👏🏨

At sunrise, we sent off Guy, a cyclist traveling from Arizona toward Yellowstone along the historic TransAmerica Bicycle Trail.

As America approaches 250 years as a country, the route marks 50 years of cross-country travel powered by the long road ahead.

Thanks for staying with us at Dove Creek Inn. Safe travels, Guy. 🌅

Alex told us he booked his stay because of high recommendation.

That kind of word of mouth means everything to a small hotel like ours.

This town is full of hidden treasures…

We just had our first no vacancy weekend of the season, and it’s a great reminder of what’s drawing people to our little slice of heaven.

Dove Creek is a wild, untamed place—and this weekend we were lucky enough to host both archaeologists and horn hunters.

The archaeologists were here working on a dig at Champagne Springs, an incredible cultural site just south of town, uncovering pieces of the past. At the same time, hunters came in for Colorado’s shed hunting opener, hiking our rugged landscape in search of antlers shed by the trophy deer and elk that call this area home.

Each spring, these animals shed their antlers to make way for new growth—a natural cycle that symbolizes renewal. In a way, it feels like we’re doing the same.

We’re grateful, we’re growing, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

Check out these incredible photos shared with us by the Wadsworth family! 📸✨

The motel was built in 1949 by Dan and Margaret Wadsworth and was originally named "The Rogette," after two of their children, Roger and Danette; They also had a daughter named Deborah.

It’s amazing to step back in time and imagine Dove Creek as a frontier farming town just beginning its journey into the nuclear age, supporting the nation through local uranium mining which helped fuel the local economy for many years.

In these photos, you’ll see the Colorado Motor Court Register from 1959, vintage matchbooks from the 1960s, and several family photos, including one of Dan himself on the roof during construction.

We’d love to hear from you; Please comment if you have any memories or history connected to this property!

Before our ownership, the motel was also owned by the Perkins and the Philibosian families. We’ll be sharing more about them soon; Stay tuned!
