Our stay at the 1890 Breitenbach Guest House was a wonderful experience. We met the owner “Duke” at the house to get the key. He provided us with a cheese tray, crackers, and wine. He was very cordial and not only gave us a tour of the house, but he also explained a lot of the history of the house, items in the house and the area. The house was conveniently located to any of the Amish shops, restaurants, and sites in and around Tuscarawas and Holmes counties. While we were there, we took a short walk down the hill from the house to the Breitenbach Wine Café to have lunch on the patio of a beautiful spring day. We ordered wine with lunch and found it to be every bit as good as other wine we have tasted. Needless to say, we purchased several bottles to take home. One of the days was such a pleasant spring day that we invited our son and his family to come down for a visit and to sit on the deck with a glass of wine from the Breitenbach Wine Cellar. We also walked the trail from the house to the Tool Shed a couple of times to take in the magnificent view of the surrounding countryside from the top of the hill. Each day a herd of 7 deer came down to the yard to graze, sometimes in the early morning hours and once in the evening. This is certainly a repeat."
