Street closures, parking restrictions for
Saturday's Apple Harvest Day, 5K Road Race
Overnight parking restrictions begin Friday night
Dover Police Chief David Terlemezian announces the following street closures and parking restrictions for the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce’s 42nd annual Apple Harvest Day festival on Saturday, Oct. 3.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the following streets will be closed to all traffic:
Central Avenue southbound, from Fourth Street to Washington Street
First, Second and Third streets between Chestnut Street and Central Avenue
Saint Thomas Street, from Chestnut Street to Atkinson Street.
Southbound traffic on Central Avenue will be diverted through the Third Street Lot to Chestnut Street. Motorists should expect delays in the downtown area.
Parking and free shuttle service
There will be free parking and shuttle service from the Brady Sullivan Campus (formerly Liberty Mutual) at 100 Liberty Way, accessed from the Sixth Street and Indian Brook Drive intersection. The shuttle service runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., dropping off and picking up passengers downtown in front of the New Hampshire Children's Museum at 6 Washington St.
Limited festival parking will be available at:
Dover Public Library/McConnell Center municipal lot
Orchard Street parking garage (requires paid parking)
Dover Transportation Center lot (requires paid parking)
Additional road closures for Apple Harvest 5K Road Race
There are additional road closures for the Apple Harvest 5K Road Race, which begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The race course starts and finishes on Saint Thomas Street in front of the Dover District Court. Post-race activities will occur on the adjacent McConnell Center lawn.
The following roads will be closed for the race:
Saint Thomas Street, from Chestnut Street to Belknap Street (8 to 10 a.m.)
Rutland Street, from Silver Street to Cataract Avenue (8:30 to 9:30 a.m.)
Cataract Avenue, from Bellamy Road to Rutland Street (8:30 to 9:30 a.m.)
Silver Street, between Belknap Street and Elm Street (8:30 to 8:45 a.m.) The closure will be brief to allow participants to cross Silver Street early in the race.
Bellamy Road will be restricted to a single lane of alternating traffic between Cataract Avenue and Sunset Drive when runners are present.
The course utilizes a portion of the Dover Community Trail between Fisher and Folsom streets.
Parking restrictions
On-street parking will be prohibited during the overnight of Friday, Oct. 2, and all day on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the following locations:
Central Avenue, from Third Street to Washington Street
Third Street, from Chestnut Street to Central Avenue
Posted areas of First Street and Second Street
Saint Thomas Street, from Chestnut Street to Atkinson Street
