Delaware Capitol Police FOP Lodge 11

Yesterday, 06/02/25, members of Delaware Capitol Police Lodge 11 had the pleasure of meeting DJ Daniel, an amazing Texas 13 year old boy battling terminal cancer, and his father Theodis. DJ has always wanted to be a police officer andd was sworn in as an honorary officer with Lodge 11 by Lodge President Brother Matthews and Chief Harris. DJ was presented with a plaque and badge to make it official.

Rest easy Major Downs.

It is with a profound sadness that the Delaware Capitol Police announce the passing of Major Michael Downs. Major Downs passed away on 02/10/25 off duty and unexpectedly. Major Downs had served with the Delaware Capitol Police since 2009 and achieved the rank of Major in 2019. He had most recently been the Major in charge of Northern Operations in New Castle County. Previously, he was the Central Operations Commander as a Lieutenant and prior to that, a Sergeant and Officer in New Castle Courthouse. Prior to joining the Delaware Capitol Police, Major Downs served with the Delaware Alcohol & To***co Enforcement (DATE) from 1996-2009. Major Downs also served with the University of Delaware as a security officer from 1994-1996. Please keep Major Downs family, friends and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest easy Sir, we have the watch.
