Winding through the piney hills and hardwood bottoms of Webster Parish, Bayou Dorcheat is one of north Louisiana's quiet treasures. 🌿 Its slow blackwater slips past sandbars and cypress knees, so still in places that the trees stand perfectly mirrored on the surface.

Dorcheat is one of the few streams in the state officially named a Louisiana Natural and Scenic River, and paddlers love it for exactly that reason. White sandbars make perfect places to pull over, the fishing for catfish and bass is steady, and the wildlife along the banks makes every mile feel a little wild.

Up here in the northern parishes, this is the kind of water folks grew up on. 🛶 What north Louisiana bayou or creek did you spend your summers exploring?

The bridge is being replaced on Monday. Please park in front of the cedar house (our house) on Sunday evening if you plan on leaving in your vehicle on Monday. As far as we know this will be a 1 day project. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation beyond our control.

Beginning Monday June 29th we will be in Minor Flood Stage. Please plan accordingly. The water will continue to rise from the 29th- July 1st getting higher daily.

We will be in Minor Flood Stage beginning approximately June 28th. If you are on site please be prepared to evacuate. You will be refunded for the days the park is flooded on a pro-rated basis. Thank you for staying with us on the beautiful yet sometimes unpredictable Bayou!
