☀️🔥 HOT WEATHER = HOT SURFACES 🔥☀️

Make it a point to be hydrated, shaded, and educated this summer.

When temperatures climb, sidewalks, asphalt, playground equipment, vehicle interiors, and even sand can become dangerously hot and can be much hotter than the air temperature.

🐾 Protect Your Pets
Dogs' paw pads can burn just like our bare feet. If the pavement or sand is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your pet's paws. Consider walking dogs during the cooler morning or evening hours and stick to grassy or shaded areas when possible.

🏖️ Don't Forget the Sand
Sand acts like a sponge, absorbing and holding heat from the sun throughout the day. Even when the air temperature feels comfortable, the sand beneath your feet can be hot enough to cause burns. Wear sandals or water shoes when walking on the sand.

Heat Safety Tips
💧 Drink water frequently, even if you don't feel thirsty.
💧 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
💧 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
💧 Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults in a parked vehicle.
💧 Watch for signs of heat-related illness such as dizziness, headache, nausea, excessive sweating, or confusion.
💧 Apply sunscreen and reapply as directed.

✋ The 7-Second Test
Place the back of your hand on the pavement, sand, or other surface for 7 seconds. If it's too hot to keep your hand there comfortably, it's too hot for bare feet and paws.

Stay cool and stay safe!
