Duluth wasn’t exactly what we expected… and that’s what made it better.

Here are a few things that genuinely surprised us 👇

🌫️ The lake can disappear overnight
Woke up to a full fog over Lake Superior—no view at all. By midday, it cleared like nothing happened. Locals call it normal.

🌡️ 60°F here feels colder than 50°F anywhere else
That lake breeze is no joke. Even in May, you’ll want a hoodie—especially near the water.

🚗 Scenic drives > actual plans
Some of the best moments weren’t “destinations”—just pulling over along Scenic 61 and taking it in.

🥾 You don’t need a big hike for a great view
Places like Gooseberry Falls State Park and Split Rock Lighthouse are super accessible—short walks, big payoff.

🍽️ The best food spots get busy fast
Lines at Northern Waters Smokehaus are real. Going early or off-hours makes a huge difference.

🚢 Ship watching is actually a thing here
