Hotel Dunsmuir dates back to the gold rush days of the late 1800s, in the sleepy mountain railroad town from which it gets its name. It's highlighted in "Ripley's Believe it or Not" as the famous "Upside Down Hotel". It's so notorious in fact that a Hollywood film of the same name was recently filmed there.

Curious about how Dunsmuir got its name? During the city’s early years, the son of a coal baron, Alexander Dunsmuir, fell in love with the place and promised to erect a town fountain in exchange for naming the area after his family name. Well, who could resist such an offer? 🤔
