The time has come — 2026 breeding population survey results are out!

According to the USFWS Annual Waterfowl Breeding Population and Habitat Survey, this year's estimated breeding duck population is 33.44 million, a 2% decline from last year and 6% below the long-term average dating back to 1955. The report shows that while dabbling duck populations have decreased, diving duck populations have increased over the past year.

Total pond counts increased 14% from 2025, notably 29% in Canada; however, U.S. wetlands were down 10%.

Big news for duck hunters: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has finalized the 2026 Hunt-Fish Rule, creating nearly 1,500 new hunting and fishing opportunities across 32 states—including expanded waterfowl hunting access on 41 national wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries.

For nearly a decade, Delta Waterfowl has worked with members, volunteers, and fellow duck hunters to push for greater public-land hunting access. This year’s final rule includes eight refuges identified as priorities by Delta.

The rule also opens first-ever hunting opportunities at new federal sites and simplifies hundreds of existing regulations to better align with state fish and wildlife laws.

More access. More opportunity. A strong win for duck hunters.

Last night’s private showing at G & R Hunts and Lodge was a great opportunity to connect with friends, supporters, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts as we shared the progress of our current remodel.
We’re grateful for everyone who took time out of their evening to stop by, tour the space, and spend some time in conversation. The encouragement, ideas, and fellowship were greatly appreciated.
A special thanks to everyone who helped make the meal possible. The steaks may have given the remodel a little competition for attention.
It was our first event in the new space, and while there’s still work to be done, last night reminded us how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such a supportive community. We look forward to hosting more gatherings in the future.

What looks like a little progress today is actually 14 long months of planning, problem-solving, and remodel work behind the scenes. We’re not finished yet, but it’s finally reaching the stage where you can see the vision come to life. And honestly, it’s a pretty cool feeling.
