This is what progress looks like on a Saturday.

Black ceilings. Art Deco tiles. Details that make you stop and look up. (And out of every window.)

Spent our first wedding anniversary somewhere special: our own Airbnb. 🖤
We worked on the house, watched the fog roll over the trees, caught the sunset, and hung the Murdock's Hideaway sign. That last one made it feel real.

Building this together, one project at a time. Can't wait to share it with you soon.

Nobody tells you that building something from the ground up means getting in the ground too. Crushed septic pipe. Shovels. A backhoe. A very long day. 🥵

The positive: The plumber finished his work today, the pipe is fixed and for the first time — we have running water and a flushing toilet at Murdocks Hideaway.

The little wins hit different when you dig for them yourself. 🖤

Some chapters just take longer than they're supposed to.

But then your kid does a handstand on the new floors and reminds you exactly why you're building this in the first place. Family and all the memories we've made and will make with them. Other families who will come from all over to enjoy our space and do the same.

We're still in it — and dreaming hard about the day we get to open these doors for the people who believed in this (and us) before it was anything but a vision and a whole lot of work.

You know who you are. 🖤

Beautiful floors. Vanity in. Shower going up.

We've been building this place for months without a single functioning bathroom on the property.

That chapter is almost over.

Some milestones are glamorous. Some are just — finally — and this one's both.

Nobody warns you that building something from scratch means tearing it apart at least once first. We had to redo the walls. It was frustrating. Then we just... got to work.

There's something about painting next to your person — no talking, just moving — that makes the hard days worth it. Turns out a roller and a bucket of paint is better therapy than anything paid for.

Floors are next. We're not stopping.

These walls...

Not everything goes the way you plan it. Sometimes things have to fall apart before they can come together.

Thank goodness for two people who stepped up — without asking for much, without making it a big thing — and fixed every bit of it. I can't say much more than that in an Instagram caption. No words and just beyond grateful. You know who you are. We see you. We don't forget. 🖤

The walls are smooth. We're moving forward.

This is what it looks like when you pull up.
Still working on the driveway. Still a few things left on the to do list. But the building? The building looks exactly like it was meant to. 🖤

Took a Sunday and remembered that Ohio actually gets sunshine. ☀️

Long ride out to East Liverpool. Stopped at the Point of Beginning — the literal spot where the United States started surveying its public land in 1785. Three states meet right there. History carved into stone. We're building 10 minutes from a place like that and half the time we forget to look up from the to-do list.

Murdock Services coming through for us. 🖤

Our brother stepped in and helped take this porch roof from “in progress” to something that actually feels complete and cozy.

What started as a pile of boards and a vision is now a space you can stand under and feel it all coming together. There’s something different about building like this — with family, with people who actually care, and with our own hands on every detail. We’re beyond grateful for the help, the time, and the skill that went into this. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

Little by little, it’s becoming exactly what we imagined.
