You Don’t Need a Reason to Go Camping… But Here Are a Few Anyway
There are plenty of reasons not to go camping this weekend.
The lawn needs mowing. The laundry is multiplying. There’s probably something in the garage you’ve been meaning to organize since 2019. Your email inbox certainly isn’t going anywhere.
But here's the thing: Neither is any of that stuff.
Summer weekends, on the other hand, have a habit of disappearing surprisingly fast.
So in the spirit of our ongoing Reasons to Camp series, we thought we’d make the case for putting the chores aside, packing a few things, and spending a weekend around the campfire.
Because Doing Nothing Is Actually Something. At the campground, sitting in a chair for two hours while staring at a fire is considered a perfectly legitimate activity.
Take a nap. Read a book. Walk around the campground. Have a conversation that starts with absolutely nothing important and somehow lasts an hour.
You don't have to accomplish anything. Sometimes that's the whole point. Because Coffee Really Does Taste Better Outside
Some of the best parts of camping aren't really activities at all. They're just time spent together.
We need weekends when we laugh too loudly, eat too much, stay up later than usual, and forget what day it is. We need mornings when the biggest decision is, breakfast first or another cup of coffee?
Sometimes growing up means becoming responsible. Camping gives us permission to temporarily reconsider that decision.
Because your lawn will be fine, we checked. Grass can survive an entire weekend without supervision. The laundry will also remain safely inside your house. The garage? At this point, you've waited this long. Another weekend probably isn't going to change anything.
There are only so many warm summer evenings. Choose wisely.
Because Life Is Busy. Camping Doesn't Have to Be.
Maybe that's the best reason of all. Life gives us schedules, appointments, responsibilities, notifications, errands, and approximately 47 passwords we're supposed to remember.
Camping gives us a chair and a fire. Sometimes simple wins.
So if you've been saying: “We should go camping sometime.” Make sometime a weekend.
The chores will wait. The emails will wait. And yes, we're pretty confident the lawn will still be there when you get home.
We'll save you a spot around the campfire.
