Summer days used to mean finding a place where the air felt a little cooler the second you stepped into the shade. That’s what comes to mind with a swimming hole like this tucked into southern Illinois.

The bluffs and trees give it a different feel than the wide-open country most people picture when they think of the state. When water drops over rock like that and gathers below, it pulls you in fast.

It feels like the kind of spot families remember for years, where somebody always brought towels, sandwiches, and a plan to stay longer than they meant to.

I’m glad there are still places that make you want to slow down and just sit with the sound of water. 👇👇
