Point of interest. On the side of a historic downtown building that houses the Surf, Wind and Fire outfitters (a favorite retail stop) is a new(ish) mural created by who is a very talented artist from Virginia.

The mural features the 1774 Edenton Tea Party symbol, a large mouth bass, herons and osprey to honor the coastal wildlife, the Roanoke River Lighthouse, Cyprus trees (and knees), and a blue crab.

Visit Edenton to see this and many more works of art around town and in the local art galleries.

This is what we lovingly refer to as “the cottage”. It’s a smaller living space situated behind the main house and contains two beds, a sitting area, TV, and full bathroom.

It’s history, as I understand it from a neighbor, is this was once a barber shop or hair salon - I’m not sure which. If anyone knows the exact historical detail, please share!
