What a wonderful time we had this week with the Piccoti family! Was so good to see them all again. Philip, Kristina, Daniella, and their beautiful critters were one of our very *first* guests last year. Daniella is a “Reining” champion and just turned 18!!! She is off to begin an exciting career in the world of horses. Will be so much fun to follow her as she pursues her lifelong passion. Thanks so much guys for stopping at the ranch and we are looking forward to seeing you all again. Safe Travels and God bless.

New Mexico riding is just the best. So many really cool places for me and my horse to see and explore. My bucket list is overflowing!

The weather is still warm in the Bisti Wilderness, 3.5 hours from Albuquerque. Make sure to bring water for self and horses, and clean up the area around your trailer before you leave. (Photo by Evalyn Bemis.)

Really looking forward to going on this ride!

Really looking forward to going on this ride!

Yesterday, MaryAnne Reynolds and Cecilia Kayano rode 10 miles into the Sabinoso Wilderness, located east of Las Vegas. A week ago, the Wilderness gained an access route thanks to a donation from the Wilderness Land Trust. The access road requires 4-wheel drive, and if it rains, it may be impassible due to washout. Once there, it is all worth it! Deep canyon, crystal clear water, and lots of animal tracks: deer, turkey, bobcat and plenty of bear. The banks are usually sand. Some areas are sandy trail lined with cottonwood. The valley through which the creek flows widens out the farther you travel. Where we turned around, the historic road-turned-trail was high above the creek, providing a magnificent view. Idea for horse camping. There should be plenty of graze in the spring. The summer can be very hot, and rattle snakes like this valley. Good times to ride are fall and spring, and warmer winter days may be good as well, however, the sun sets early in the canyon. What a magnificent wilderness! What an honor to ride through it. Let's take good care of it.

Mick the Mouser. Lost him a little bit ago. Gosh we miss him. Loved him a lot. He traveled 4000 miles last year, with us, from Wasilla, AK to Edgewood, NM, in a horse trailer with chickens, goats, and horses. He was a great traveler and seemed to love the whole adventure. Sweet boy will always be in our hearts.

If you be arriving a bit late to our Ranch you are always welcome to join us for dinner. Edgewood is a small town and eating places do close a bit early...SO, you don't need to unhook your trailer to go searching for dinner. Just give us a heads up and we will happily set a place for you at our table. Nothing fancy but - it will be hot, home cooked, and plenty of it!
