Urban Collective Boutique Hotel

Urban Collective Boutique Hotel Eight unique suites creating the Urban Collective Boutique Hotel. We look forward to your stay. McCorkle and his wife Mary. Louis.

In 2023, the Urban Collective Boutique Hotel was established in downtown Edwardsville, offering a truly exceptional experience for travelers seeking something out of the ordinary. Nestled in the heart of the city, this boutique hotel features eight distinct suites, each with its own unique ambiance, colors, themes, styles, and décor. Originally known as the McCorkle Building, this historic structu

re was constructed in 1887 as an investment by Samuel S. It stood out among other buildings in Edwardsville for its notable iron and glass front, manufactured by the Pullis Brothers of St. Over the years, the building served various purposes, including being the long-standing location of Buhrmester Paint and Wallpaper. Throughout its history, the McCorkle Building accommodated a range of tenants. It housed a popular grocer named Charles Hack in the south storefront, while Heisel Harness and Saddle occupied the north side. After Hack, Stahlhut and Hardbeck took over the grocery space until the mid-1930s. The building saw the presence of other businesses like a sheet metal company, a rug cleaning service, and even a taxi service before being purchased by the Buhrmester family in 1948. Initially, the building's second floor served as office spaces, but over time, many of the first-floor businesses' tenants moved into apartments above their stores. Before the Urban Collective was born, the second floor was vacant, reflecting a common trend in downtown buildings. In 2022, Buhrmesters closed its doors and sold the building to us, Hannah Fink and Kristen Pfund, who also own the upscale event venue next door, known as The Ink House. Recognizing the need for more space and inspired by the idea of a boutique hotel, we eagerly embraced the opportunity to restore and update such a beautiful piece of Edwardsville history.. We believe that downtown Edwardsville has much to offer travelers and feel that a boutique hotel has been a missing piece. The rich history and contemporary vibe of Edwardsville, along with its proximity to Route 66 (the Mother Road) and its thriving culinary scene, make it an ideal destination. The city's diversity, exciting events like the Route 66 Festival and the Edwardsville Art Fair held at City Park, and the presence of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville all contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the area. Discover the wonders of Edwardsville, IL, the third oldest city in Illinois, and immerse yourself in its captivating blend of history, contemporary charm, and cultural offerings. We invite our guests to experience the city's unique allure firsthand, at The Urban Collective Boutique Hotel.
