The Elkhart A-Frame is an ideal location for the adventure seeker who wants a unique and private lodging experience that is still close to all the action.

Find us on AirBNB and Instagram. My husband Patrick and I saw this Aframe online in the fall of 2019 and immediately fell in love with it. The unique architecture, updated interior, and surrounding woods (with the most amazing fall colors), combined with the perfect location made it an opportunity we could not pass up. While we have always envisioned renting it out on AirBNB, we ended up deciding to move into it for the past 1.5 years and have grown to love it even more. Having spent the past 12 years living together in Portland, Oregon (my home state), we love the small town yet progressive feel of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and also enjoy the easy access to the outdoors. When we aren’t working on the house or the landscape, we enjoy paddleboarding on Crystal Lake (no wake Sundays are our favorite), hiking up the road to the Ice Age trail, walking into the village to get food and drinks and hear live music, going to the Saturday Farmer’s Market, watching the races at Road America, going road biking, and accessing the Greenbush Kettle Moraine trails for great hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing. We love this area so much that we have bought another home right down the road that we are moving into so that we can fulfill our dream of allowing others to create memories and spend time in this little nature retreat that we call . We trust that you will love it as much as we do.

🥾 New Adventure Unlocked: The Ice Age Trail Mammoth Hike Challenge!

One of the things we love most about the Elkhart A-Frame is its location. Nestled in the heart of the Kettle Moraine, it’s the perfect home base for exploring some of the most scenic sections of Wisconsin’s legendary Ice Age Trail.

This week I kicked off the Ice Age Trail Alliance Mammoth Hike Challenge on the Greenbush Segment, completing:
• Greenbush to Hwy 23 and back (6 miles)
• Hwy 23 to the Greenbush Recreation Trails parking area and back (7 miles)

🍂 Fall colors have emerged, the trails are quiet, and the glacial landscapes are as beautiful as ever.

If section hiking the Ice Age Trail is on your bucket list, the Elkhart A-Frame makes a cozy home base for exploring the La Budde Creek, Greenbush, Parnell, Walla Hi, Butler Lake, and Dundee segments of the Northern Kettle Moraine.

🚴‍♀️ Fall adventures are even better on two wheels. We spent the day riding the beautiful Lake to Lake Trail from Long Lake to Mauthe Lake, soaking up colorful foliage, quiet forests, and some of the best gravel riding in the Kettle Moraine.

This is your sign to bring your bikes and make a weekend of it. 🚴🍁

🍂 Live Color Report: October 8, 2026 🍂

Fall colors have officially started to pop at the Elkhart A-Frame, and the next couple of weeks are shaping up to be some of the prettiest days of the year. We still have several weekday openings available if you’re feeling tempted to play hookie, sip coffee on the deck, explore the Kettle Moraine, and soak up the very best of a Midwest autumn.

"Great location! 5 minutes to lots of restaurants and bars. 20 minutes to Whistling and Blackwolf... so peaceful at night."

One of the things guests love most about the Elkhart A-Frame is the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Spend the day golfing at world-renowned Whistling Straits or Blackwolf Run, exploring the shops and restaurants of Elkhart Lake, or enjoying the food scene and waterfront in Sheboygan. Then come back to a peaceful retreat tucked among the trees.
