These are members of Lodge 851 and are wonderful people. They always donate to our Lodge and help so many others. We are heartsick over this for them. We are now collecting donations for them. Currently we are collecting monetary donations, if we find out about specific needs we will also be collecting for those as well. Please keep this family in your prayers.
Chesapeake City House Fire Causes $300,000 in Damage, Displaces Five
CHESAPEAKE CITY — Five people were displaced after an early-morning fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to a Chesapeake City home Monday.
The fire was reported at approximately 2:04 a.m. Aug. 24 at a single-family residence in the 800 block of Biddle Street, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Thirty firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Company of Chesapeake City and assisting departments responded to the one-alarm fire. Crews brought the blaze under control in approximately 45 minutes.
Investigators determined the fire originated in a bedroom, but the cause remains under investigation.
The owner discovered the fire. Smoke alarms were present inside the home and activated during the incident. The residence did not have a fire alarm or sprinkler system.
No injuries were reported.
Officials estimated the fire caused approximately $200,000 in structural damage and another $100,000 in damage to the home’s contents.
All five occupants were displaced and are receiving assistance from family members as the investigation continues.
