Beginning November 27th in North Georgia, Dahlonega’s “Old Fashioned Christmas” celebration gets underway with the lighting of its historic downtown square, transforming this beautiful little mountain town into a real-life Hallmark Christmas town! Thousands of sparkling white lights, a towering Christmas tree, decorated storefronts, and holiday music fill the historic streets. The tree-lighting ceremony takes place at 6 PM, with carolers and a special visit from Santa. Throughout the season, you can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides past the beautifully lit buildings, browse charming downtown shops, sample homemade fudge and chocolates, and grab a bite at one of the local restaurants. Children can visit Santa for free photos on select dates through December 29th. Hancock Park hosts a Christmas Market December 5th–13th, featuring unique gifts, homemade sweets, and holiday decorations. The annual Christmas Parade rolls through downtown December 12th with festive floats, music, and Santa himself! You can also catch live theater performances at the historic Holly Theater. The celebration continues into early January, with the downtown lights making evening visits especially beautiful throughout the Christmas season in the North Georgia mountains.
