The skies are clear and the BWCAW is opening back up! Hiking and biking trails are ready to be explored and the lakes are perfect for swimming and fishing! Ely’s shops and restaurants are ready to welcome you.

All of the previous forest fire activity in the region has left some prime mid to late August openings here at Opal House so come on up!

Friends of Ely and Opal House are now able to see the film and support an important anti-sexual violence organization at the same time! If you have stayed at Opal House, you will surely recognize the unique spaces of this historic Ely home, which served as one of the main shooting locations featured in the film. We came up to Ely Minnesota to go hiking at the National Park and around National Forest. This location was great…We were in walking distance from stores and great restaurants. It was easy to find and always had space to park. The opal house was a cute house that had everything we would need …We especially liked the fact that there are 3 coffee shops about 5 minutes away walking distance. Place was spotless and relaxing (didn’t have to worry about anything).

This was my second stay at this property and would happily return!

The place was perfect for us. Great location and very nice place stocked with everything you need!!

We are excited to learn that the movie Boundary Waters featuring Ely will soon make its Ely premiere!

When the producers of this newly released film saw Opal House, they loved the sense of time and place of this historic home and made it the primary shooting location featured in this wonderful film!
