www.customcabins.com Vosburgh's Custom Cabin Rentals is a full service resort on the edge of the BWCA specializing in your ideal north woods vaction.

Our knowledgeable staff, friendly service, and beautiful facilities combine to make your stay in the Ely area a truly memorable one. Our location offers you the expanse of the Moose Lake chain (Moose, Newfound, and Sucker), plus massive Basswood Lake to fish without leaving your boat. Most of the water is limited to 25 HP motors in order to promote the tranquility and peace of the wilderness. The Moose Lake chain, Moose, Newfound and Sucker Lakes, stretches over twelve miles of water from our docks to the Canadian border. Loaded with varied structure, these waters hold some of the best large-and small mouth bass, walleye, northern pike, and blue gill fishing around. Just a short portage away is Basswood Lake, which adds 1,450 miles of legendary shoreline to your fishing pleasure. The Moose Lake area also has a number of designated trout lakes, stocked with splake, brook and rainbow trout to test your fishing expertise. The Ely area has something for everyone to round out your vacation stay. Attractions include:

Our annual end-of-season family trip to the BWCAW was a great success! We spent a week on Washington Island on Basswood where Thuli swam every day and played on the huge beach, W***y pump-foiled, and Bria read a few books.

Motorboat base camping with shorter day canoe trips is a great way to introduce a toddler to the wilderness. We brought a wall tent and wood stove to stay warm in the evenings (although we didn't need it on the 78 degree day!). Thuli taught her dad how to collect firewood and gave grandpa a fishing lesson (she is not so sure about holding live fish yet.)

And that's a wrap! After a summer of unprecedented wildfires, 2026 was still a fun and fulfilling season. Thank you all for the laughter, friendship, and memories. See you in 2027!

One of our favorite nearby adventures: Secret Blackstone.

The trail winds through the forest and over rocky overlooks, with beautiful views that make the climb well worth it. It’s a wonderful way to spend a morning or afternoon away from the water during your stay (3 min drive from Vosburgh's Custom Cabin Rentals.)

There are two loop options, approximately 1 mile and 3 miles, with great opportunities to see wildlife.

At Vosburgh’s, the Boundary Waters isn’t simply a nearby attraction—it begins right from the lake.

Our cabins are located on Moose Lake, a designated BWCA entry lake approximately 20 miles northeast of Ely. Guests can begin a paddle from our docks and explore the Moose–Newfound–Sucker chain without first loading the canoe onto the car.

Your cabin can be both a comfortable place to stay and the starting point for the day’s adventure.
