“CBO Before” for those enjoying the progress!

These two hidden cabins along the shoreline are among the oldest on Moose Lake! Over the past few years, we have cleared access around their foundations, assessed their condition and made much needed improvements!

Photos taken on the quiet southern bay of Moose Lake, site to the historic Canadian Border Lodge which operated in the early 1900s. The shoreline cabins pre-date Bob Cary’s purchase of the property in the 60s.

The former Outfitters' smallest cabin, closest to the lakeshore (usually referred to as Harry & Mary's) received a brand new roof right before this past snowfall! More improvements to come.

All of this clearing, has opened up PANORAMIC VIEWS from the fully renovated home, up on top! It's a sight to behold, now available for week long reservations starting Summer 2026!

We’re hard at work setting up for our big sale this weekend! Come enjoy burgers, brats, and beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) on the shores of Moose Lake while you shop the sale of the summer ⛺️ We have all sorts of gear - from packs to mess kits to sleeping pads to tents, plus merchandise with the original CBO logo - from hats to hoodies to totes. At CBO, we’re making room for the next chapter! Join us Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st for a resort liquidation sale. All proceeds from the sale go to the restoration of the original cabins of the historic Canadian Border Lodge.

Everything must go: outfitting gear, furniture, original CBO logo merchandise, paddles, and restaurant equipment. We’ll be open 10 am - 6 pm each day (or until sold out), rain or shine. Follow us on social for updates, we’ll post here if we sell out early. One final run of original Canadian Border Outfitters logo merchandise will be for sale before the old logo is officially retired. Come enjoy beer, wine, bargains, and snacks on the shores of Moose Lake! See you Labor Day weekend 🍁

The Echo Cabin is surrounded by private and serene wilderness. This gorgeous two story cabin sits up high with spectacular sunset views! Large windows fill every wall of the vaulted space, letting in lots of natural light and fresh air. Enjoy the screen room and outdoor areas - including an oversized fire pit and picturesque front porch. If the temperature drops, snuggle up with a glass of wine and a good book around the wood stove.

This vacation home is perfect for a family with kids or a couple looking for a romantic getaway.

The outside of this efficient cabin is all charm with its wraparound porch and multiple access points for comfortable living both indoors and out.

The inside features a handcrafted log staircase that leads to a lofted suite with a king size bed and a private deck that features one of the most spectacular views in the Northwoods. The second floor also features a smartly designed bathroom, ample closets, and a sitting room with a reading chair, workspace and access to the screen room.

The main floor has a well appointed and modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and an open living and dining room. Off of the living room, there is a smaller private bedroom with a set of bunk beds, and a half bath. The utility room has a top loading washer and dryer and storage for gear and coolers. The main level also features in-floor heat and a wood burning stove for year round enjoyment. There is a portable A/C unit that can be connected to the window.

The Echo Cabin is right next to the canoe access on Everett Lake, and is located 1.5 miles from the Burntside Lake boat launch off of Passi Road. The driveway has a turn-around for easy trailer maneuvering and parking.

Ely is one of the best places in the world for stargazing ✨ The BWCA is the world’s largest International Dark Sky Sanctuary, and there are endless opportunities to take in the magic of the night sky from anywhere in the area. You may even catch a glimpse of the northern lights!
