Holy Buckets! I just put the coffee on down at my studio and went outside to find the dog. I couldn't see her anywhere so I was scouring the perimeter of the parking area because I have a hard time seeing her. She will stand, frozen in time, all 8 lbs. of her looking back at me in the exact same colors as all the leaves. I have to look for her beady brown eyes and nose to spot her and she's not smart enough to move a little to help me out. 11 years of this...
Anyway, as I was looking, a small float plane was flying to the east and I began to watch to see if I could spot it through the more distant tree tops. It's really nice little plane that looks fun to fly and the engine sounds really smooth. As I'm looking for the plane, the dog appears out of nowhere by my feet and stopped walking about 5 feet in front of me to the north and looking to her right up the road, the opposite of the plane.
Then, 150 feet in front of me, walking down the road was a massive lynx, casually strolling into view. I blinked and thought initially that it was cougar, but it had a bob tail. This cat was HUGE with a jacked up rear end, ear tufts and a beard. His legs were fluffy and even all the way down to his big paws. He didn't notice me and may have been looking at the plane. He stopped for 3 seconds and I turned to Delilah and said softly and hurriedly, "C',mon, c'mon, c'mon!!!!. Delilah stared at me like, "what's going on?" and then she actually moved and I was able to quietly usher her inside. The last time we tried this, I ended having to chase an 8 pound dog chasing a 400 pound bear on a merry goose chase with the bear believing Delilah was a really loud, biting rabbit. Not wanting a replay because I'm older these days, I didn't want this crazy mutt to see the big puddy tat. Delilah has no clue as to her body size and I have no idea how wild cats react to attacking 8 pound dogs. I didn't want to find out. I actually got her inside and closed the door. I turned my camera to the cat and was doing the un-pinch thing to zoom in and the lynx spotted me and took off back from where he came and outside of my view.
So, there's no photo evidence. Just my story. Even Delilah missed it - thank God!
