For people who know Ely, early season on Shagawa Lake is hard to beat.

Loon Island is our private island cabin on Shagawa Lake in Ely, Minnesota, one of the coolest small towns in the country and a perfect base for a Northwoods getaway.

We open starting the second half of May, and Memorial Day Weekend is still open. This is about the best time of the year quiet water, great fishing, cool nights, beautiful sunsets, and no summer crowds.

We still have most of September available for rent starting on September 5th. Are you coming up to Ely for the Harvest Festival or a long relaxing weekend? September is the best month in my opinion, cool evenings, little or no bugs. Come to Loon Island and enjoy a getaway you will not soon forget!

This family-friendly Ely cabin is located on a lake, within 3 mi (5 km) of Superior National Forest and Burntside Lake. White Iron Lake and Dorothy Molter Museum are also within 9 mi (15 km).
