With mixed feelings I am sharing that our days as the owners of Sandbagger are coming to an end. Over the last 9 years we have built many good memories with our family visits to the beach and have been fortunate to have great renters. If all goes as scheduled there will be new owners effective October 12. The good news for those of you who return each year is that we are told the new owners will continue to rent out the property through EI Realty. Likely the name will change but you will still be able to locate the property by the address - 107 Live Oak Street. God’s blessings to you all and thanks!

It’s the holiday season and we wish you all a Merry Christmas. It is a special time of the year for sure.

We continually work on improving Sandbagger for our guests. This past spring we replaced the countertops in the second floor bathrooms with granite and also made cosmetic improvements.

We have on order granite countertops for the kitchen which will be installed before the summer season. We are especially excited about this upgrade as we think this is a major improvement to the kitchen and will be enjoyed by our guests.

Be safe and hopefully the C19 pandemic will come to an end soon with the help of the vaccines.

Half way through the summer season and all is going well at Sandbagger. Appreciate the guests that have spent a week or more at our home away from home. We are heading there next week and looking forward to seeing the comments in our guest book. It is pleasing to read the memories that are made when families are there.

After the summer season we move into monthly rentals. If you or somebody you know are looking for an extended stay location message me or contact EI Realty. Our previous long term guests have enjoyed the quiet and safe atmosphere of the island.

Hey y’all. With C-19 this year has been challenging for the tourist industry so I thought a Sandbagger update appropriate. Sandbagger is now occupied April through June by the same renter. We like this as we know they are taking good care of the property and with fewer occupants we minimized the risk of contamination. This also allowed EI Realty to develop their protocols for between guest cleanings and linen service to protect our guests. As always EI Realty stepped up to the challenge. These changes came at a cost to us and we did change our rates to offset some of the additional cost. However, in good faith this increase was not passed on to guests that were already booked. For our much appreciated repeating guests you will notice that we upgraded the bathrooms by changing countertops to granite and changing the color scheme in the second floor master. Hope you enjoy our happy place! Prayers for our country.....

We have been at Sandbagger for the last several weeks. Happy life events kept us away since last March which made this the longest absence since we bought the house 7 years ago. As always we are enjoying our Island time and especially enjoyed the EI Christmas parade yesterday - fun!
In 2018 we had a new retaining wall built and then had to redo the top floor due to Hurricane Florence damage so we decided to limit our efforts this year. Our time here is always a mix of fun and work and this trip is no different. This year's off-season improvements included a new sleeper sofa for the bottom floor activity area. Little did I know that buying a new sofa also means the color of the walls needs changed!! This includes not only the room with the sofa but also the stairwell and the lower floor bedroom. I am Kat's helper on this project as she does not allow me to touch a paint brush or roller as her standards are very high. Darn!
We are seeing more early bookings this year so if you are planning a trip to Sandbagger we suggest you get it scheduled. Thanks to all our past and future guests.
Including a picture of the palm tree as we are so happy to see it healthy. The prognosis by the experts after hurricane Florence was that it would not come back!

We are fortunate that we have no damage from Hurricane Dorian. Friends are at Sandbagger this week and let us know all is well. Prayers for all that were impacted.

All Hurricane Florence damage fixed at Sandbagger. Looking forward to a great summer season. Weeks of June 1, July 6 and August 17 still open. Message me if you are interested.

Planted several plants this spring and fall and are starting to see some flowers. The varieties bloom at different times of the year and we found it intriguing that the first red camellia flowered on December 2. Not used to that in Ohio. Only plants still to bloom are the hydrangeas and we will have to wait until spring/summer to see their flowers.
