Join us this summer for a weekly tour and hike to explore conservation work across the ranch, with opportunities to take part in hands-on stewardship.

2026 conservation projects include restoring Big Creek oxbow and fish habitat, a continued partnership with University of Wyoming researching irrigation at Big Creek Ranch, and rangeland improvements to promote forage and reliable water resources for cattle and wildlife. Stay tuned to learn more!

Did you know that trout were stocked in Big Creek as early as 1920? A Forest Ranger stationed near the Big Creek Guard Station, likely the same cabin we now call the Pelican Club, released 20,000 trout (probably fingerlings) from the Saratoga hatchery into the South Fork of Big Creek near Pearl, Colorado.

While we still stock certain sections of Big Creek today, our numbers are far fewer, in effort to enhance the fishery and maintain stable wild populations.

Alumni Highlight

Fishing guides W***y Strazza (2013 & 2014) and Harry Woodward (2022 & 2023) now channel their love of Western landscapes into their work at Mirr Ranch Group.

W***y is a Vice President, and Harry is an Associate Broker at Mirr Ranch, where they focus on the sale of legacy ranches and premier sporting properties across the West.

“After my last season at A Bar A, I joined Mirr Ranch Group. I realized pretty quickly the work isn’t all that different — you’re helping people navigate something new and build a real connection to a place. The conservation and stewardship mindset I saw firsthand at the ranch goes hand in hand with MRG’s ethos and the kind of people we aim to work with.” – Harry

“Joining MRG allowed me to combine my professional real estate experience with a deep appreciation for land, wildlife, and conservation. I was drawn to a firm that not only specializes in ranch and sporting properties but also shares my belief that these landscapes carry generational significance — financially, recreationally, and environmentally.” – W***y

We also asked W***y and Harry to reflect on one of their fondest memories at A Bar A, here is what they had to say.

“I’ll always remember the feeling of putting someone on their first fish and seeing that genuine excitement. The A Bar A has a way of slowing people down. Helping guests step away from the noise of everyday life and really take in where they were — that perspective has stayed with me and still influences how I think about my work today.” – W***y

“My favorite memories of the ranch revolve around the fish shack — coffee in the morning, figuring out everyone’s plan for the day, and fishing until dark after work.” – Harry
