Nestled on Rock Island off the northern tip of Door County is the state’s oldest (and reportedly most haunted) lighthouse - the Pottawatomie Lighthouse. Built in 1836 (before Wisconsin became a state), it was initially watched by David Corbin, who is said to rest eternally on the island. Today, it is a living museum that offers visitors a glimpse into what life was like in 1910. Those who stay have reported hearing eerie noises, doors opening and closing on their own, and unexplainable “thumping” sounds that seem to come from thin air.

Horseshoe Bay Cave is the 2nd-longest mapped cave in Wisconsin, stretching over 3,100 feet. Most of the cave is filled with cold, flowing water, and exploring it can mean crawling through passages only a few feet high.
