Before you head out, here are some fun, friendly reminders to keep your adventure safe and unforgettable.
🥾 Hike Smart
• Stay on marked trails — the views are better when you’re not lost!
• Wear sturdy shoes. River rocks and forest roots love to trip excited hikers.
• Pack water, snacks, and a buddy. Exploring together is always more fun.
• Wildlife is part of the magic — admire from a distance and never feed animals.
🚣 Boaters: Float with Confidence
• Wear a life jacket every time you’re on or near the river, even strong swimmers can get surprised and fatigued by swift currents.
• Know your limits. Cold water, hidden rocks, and sudden drop offs can challenge even experienced paddlers.
• Keep an eye on weather and river conditions. When in doubt, check the River Information Hotline: (845) 252 7100.
• Never mix alcohol with boating — adventure is best enjoyed alert and aware!
🏊 Swim Safe
• The river is beautiful but unpredictable — currents can be stronger than they look.
• Only swim with a life jacket on and keep a close eye on friends and family in the river.
• Use caution, as many areas have sudden drop offs or deep holes.
• Remember: inner tubes and any other type of inflatables count as vessels, and life jackets required!
