If youโre looking to visit Glacier National Park this year, don't sleep on June. While the opening date for Going-to-the-Sun Road changes every year, history shows it can be full of surprises. The earliest date that GTTS Road has fully opened was May 16, 1987. The latest date that it has opened was July 13, occurring in 2011, 2020, and 2022.
โLately, we usually see a full opening by late June or early July, but this year might buck the trend. After a very mild winter, our open June 18โ22 dates are looking like a gamble that could pay off in a big way. We have had GTTS open fully to vehicles by mid June in recent memory!
